How To Get Rid Of A Headache - The Easiest Way To Get Rid of Headaches

Headaches can be a serious problem and how to get rid of a headache is also a serious question. Having been hampered and harassed by headaches and migraines for years I have persistently researched and tried various ideas to try and get peace. The biggest problem I seemed to have with my own migraines was the speed at which they seemed to come on. I wasn't given much of a warning and I was caught a few times driving have to get off the road quickly before the migraine hit. I don't know how other people are effected by migraines but with me it hit and my eye sight would blur which is awkward when driving.
Over the years I have found a few hints and tips from books and online sources as to how to relieve the pressure of a headache. Some of them might work for you and others wont. I have tried them all and have found that what works will depend on how bad the migraine or headache is. So here is a few techniques that I try:
1. This first one might be a bit obvious but its the first thing that any doctor will tell you to try. Go into a darkened room and lay down on a couch or bed that's comfortable. Try to find comfortable position and start to control your breathing. Once you get comfortable try not to move and just relax. After a short period the pain will ease as the tension relaxes.
2. The second technique you will need your partner to give you a hand with. If you feel the initial effects of the migraine taking hold again lay down on a comfortable surface and get your partner to massage the back of your neck. Rubbing the neck and base of the skull with nice even pressure should help relieve the tension.
3. Hot and cold compression can also help to relieve the tension. Get a towel steeped in warm water and ring it our. Roll it up and place the warm towel on the back of the neck. Leave for about two minutes and repeat the process again with a towel that was placed in cold water. Keep alternating back and forward between hot and cold and you should feel the tension ease.
How to get rid of a headache can be something you keep wondering about or something you start taking action on. The migraines or headaches are not going to get better themselves and these few tips will help until you can get to a doctor for a check up.
